Mike’s lifelong fascination with animals is reflected in his whimsical creatures that he’s been making since the tender age of 10. Now in his 40’s, Mike continues to create a multitude of unique artwork. Through the years the menagerie has evolved and expanded to include; Tribal masks, large scale fiberglass sculptures, paintings, and the trusty line of “Fish With Attitude”. Mike is best known as a professional Sculptor, creating his original line of “Fish With Attitude” since 1992.
We hope you enjoy reading about Phoebe’s adventures as much as Mike enjoyed writing and illustrating them. This book is Mike’s first of many to come.
How it began…The day started ordinarily enough, I was headed overseas for a commissioning job on a power plant in Uzbekistan . The company booked us first class tickets on Air France leaving from IAH in Houston. Just as the main door was shutting I noticed a housefly had boarded as well! I started writing the story on the plane and didn’t stop till we landed 10 hours later. I worked on the drawings and the story over the last two years. Now it’s finished and it didn’t seem like it would ever happen. Thanks to a lot of help from friends, family and a not so ordinary fly. -Mike
